Revolutionizing Education
“ Why teachers must become change agents" (Fullan, 1993)
Teachers must combine the mantle of moral purpose with the skills of change agentry(Fullan, M. G. 1993). Teaching is a powerful passion that should never end or disappear. I personally feel that I have a lot to offer and make a change in student’s hearts. I can plant the "flower of music" in their lives and build a passion within the beauty of music. I have this big desire of helping students based on my knowledge. By teaching them how to play an instrument, identify the music notes and how to sing a song. In different stages of their lives, as a teacher, you should show them the right path and feed them the right information at the right time. In today’s society, students can be very challenging at times and they live different lives based on their lifestyle. Students have a wide variety of curiosity and by keeping them motivated, by challenging them and building a relationship with them you open their doors for more information increase the assimilation of the program and step in the success of learning. Being human and to be ready to spread your knowledge when your help is in need.
“Moral purpose keeps teachers close to the needs of children and youth; change agentry causes them to develop better strategies for accomplishing their moral goals" (Fullan, 1993, p.12). You are not just a teacher, you are a change agent. The teacher is the one to encourage them, and criticize them as well. He is the one to get where the week points are and strengthen them. He is responsible for their improvement depending from where they start. Lastly, a good teacher should be updated with the latest technology, highly trained to be open-minded professionals working towards deep pedagogic understanding and meet the today’s student’s needs.
